The name Lodhi is a surname of Pashtun origin, now being used as a first name. It was the name of a famous Afghan tribe, that Delhi Sultanate from 1452 to 1526. It is derived from the word "lodh", which means "clod" or "lump" in the Pashtun language. The Lodhi people are a community of agriculturalists, found in India and Pakistan. They are sometimes categorised as an Other Backward Class, but claim Rajput ties and prefer to be known as "Lodhi-Rajput".
