A Mentimeter quiz can be the perfect way to test, engage and entertain your audience in a number of different situations from the classroom to the boardroom! Whilst creating a Mentimeter Quiz is easy, making sure that the execution is perfect can take a little bit of practice. This article focuses on how to host a Mentimeter quiz to make sure that your audience is engaged and having an amazing experience!

Be a charismatic host

Have you ever watched a game show on TV? More often than not, the host of the show is very charismatic and has a good sense of humour. A great quiz host is part of the whole experience. Keep this in mind when you are hosting your quiz and be ready to entertain your audience by telling jokes and presenting with a smile!

Add interesting anecdotes

Add another element to your quiz by including anecdotes after each question. Anecdotes can be short stories or an explanation for the answer of the question just asked. An anecdote can provide your quiz audience more context and can be a great chance for the quiz host to share some knowledge. Overall, it can make your quiz a lot richer!

  1. Create your question using the Quiz question type in Mentimeter. In this examples, the question is: "Which man-made structure can you see from space". The correct answer in this case is Bingham Canyon Mine.
  2. Add a quick slide with an image or some information to help you explain the answer. In this example, we have put an image of the structure from space:
Bingham Canyon Mine

Explain how the Mentimeter Quiz works

Once you’re on stage and hosting your quiz start off by explaining how a Mentimeter quiz works. This will make sure your audience feel involved and understand what they are supposed to do:

Here’s an easy way to explain it:

  1. Go to Menti.com and enter the code you see in the top bar of the presentation
  2. You will be asked to join the quiz and will be assigned a random avatar. Add your name when prompted.
  3. For each quiz question that appears, there will be a countdown, then the question will be shown. Select your answer from the multiple-choice options - you have a limited time to answer the question.
  4. Correct answers received points, with the fastest correct answers receiving the most points. Incorrect answers do not receive any points.
  5. Once the voting has closed, the correct answer will be revealed, as well as a leader board to see how you scored against the other participants!

A prize for the winner?

If you want to create some real competition during the quiz, consider awarding the winner (and perhaps the runners up) a small prize to recognize their achievement. The prospect of winning something can help your audience become even more engaged and can create a great atmosphere in the room!
